This group differs from permanent straightening in that it does not straighten the whole strand. It chooses where the hair goes straight and where it keeps its shape. It suits people with fine hair who fear going flat, and anyone who wants the ends to curve under without a perm.

This group is priced by actual hair length because the time it takes genuinely differs. We measure and tell you the price before starting.
- Look at the hair and agree the shape. How far down it goes straight, how much the ends curve, how much root volume. Agreed clearly first, because this group has several possible results.
- Measure and quote. Short to shoulder, past the shoulder, mid-back or waist-length are different prices. Told to you in full before starting, with nothing added later.
- Apply by zone. Roots and ends do not get the same treatment. This is what makes the result different from ordinary straightening.
- Shape with heat. Ironed or rolled to the shape agreed. This is the stage that decides whether the ends curve in or flare out.
- Neutralise and condition. Locks in the shape, then conditions to finish. Included in the price.

How to make it last
These shapes depend on how you dry them more than plain straightened hair does, because what was set is a shape, not just straightness.
- Do not wash it for 48 hours. And do not tie or clip it. A shape that has just been locked can still be pressed out of form.
- Dry with the ends rolled the way they were set. Use a round brush to roll the ends under as you dry, and the shape returns to how it looked on the day.
- Do not hold hot air on the roots. The volume there comes from the structure that was set; sustained heat makes it relax faster.
- Condition the ends weekly. Ends that have taken both chemistry and heat dry out first.
- The shape relaxes as new hair grows. That is normal for shaping work, not a fault.

How is this different from ordinary straightening?
