Cold perm — curls that stay tidy
A cold perm relies on the solution rather than high heat. The curls tend to look more natural and the hair takes less punishment than it does from a hot perm — which suits people who want curls without ending up dry and brittle.

Who this suits
- Straight, flat hair that will not hold a style however you dry it
- You want curls you can scrunch after washing instead of curling them every morning
- Long hair that looks too flat and one-dimensional worn down
- You want a different look without cutting it short and without colouring it
- You have had a hot perm before and found it left your hair too dry
If your hair has recently been bleached or straightened, leave a gap and condition it first. We can test a strand for you without doing any work.
What happens
From the moment you sit down
The rod size decides the curl size. Agree it clearly beforehand, because it cannot be changed halfway.
- Strand test and agree the curl. Large or small curls, starting from where. We look at reference photos together first.
- Wash and prepare. Clean hair takes the solution evenly; hair with styling product left in it does not.
- Wind the rods. The longest stage. Rod size and section thickness are what determine how the curls come out.
- Apply the solution and wait. A cold perm uses time instead of high heat. Your stylist checks the curl as it develops rather than setting a timer and walking away.
- Neutralise and condition. Locks in the curl, then conditions to finish. Included in the price.
- Trim, and learn to scrunch. Curls scrunched properly look very different from curls that are not. Your stylist shows you before you leave.

Afterwards
How to make it last
Whether curls hold depends on how you wash and dry them far more than on the solution used.
- Do not wash it for 48 hours. Curls that have just been locked can still drop if they meet water too soon.
- Scrunch upward, do not comb down. Combing breaks curls into frizz. Cup the hair in your hand and squeeze upward while it is damp.
- Use a diffuser. Direct air loosens curls and makes them frizzy; a diffuser keeps them in shape.
- Sleep with it loosely tied on top. Less friction against the pillow, which is what breaks curls down fastest.
- Condition more often than straight hair needs. Permed hair dries out faster because scalp oil travels down a curved strand less easily.
Questions
What people ask before deciding
How does a cold perm differ from a digital perm?
A cold perm relies on the solution and uses less heat. The curls usually look natural and show most clearly when the hair is wet. Heat-based perms give curls that show more when the hair is dry. What we currently offer is the cold perm.
How long do the curls last?
Usually several months, gradually relaxing as new hair grows in. How long exactly depends on your hair and how you look after it.
Can short hair be permed?
Yes, but very short hair limits how the rods can be wound, so there is less choice of curl size. We look at the actual length and tell you what is achievable.
Can I straighten it later?
Yes, but leave a gap and condition it first, because the hair will have been through two rounds of chemistry. We test a strand and tell you plainly whether it can take it.
What separates ฿1,500 from ฿3,500?
Length and amount of hair. Short, fine hair uses fewer rods and less solution and takes far less time. We measure and quote before starting.
Is it guaranteed?
Yes, 7 days from the day of service, the same as all our straightening and perm work.
